BAND MEMBERS

 

Henry Matthews is owner and operator of the Oaklawn Opry and also plays steel guitar and fiddle in the Opry staff band. Henry is originally from Nashville Ark and moved to Texarkana in 1966 where he worked for General Telephone for 20 years and now works a a bio-med tech at a local hospital for last 16 years. Henry was one of the orginal band members at the Opry under the original owners and bought the Opry in 1997 and has been there since.
Noel McClain is one of the staff piano players on the show. Noel is from New Boston Texas and has been into music most of  his life. He is also a very accomplished drummer and guitar player. Noel swaps positions in the band and does a great job where ever he is needed. Noel is just recently married and his wife, Amy, runs the concessions.
Scott Otwell is the Opry's staff drummer and comes from Texarkana. Scott is a very accomplished drummer and can play any style. He also plays guitar and sings at times on the show. Scot has been with the Opry for about 10 years.
  Steve Payne is staff guitar player and has been playing country music  around the area most of his life. Steve is a very accomplished guitarist and always can remember kickoffs and songs that most of us forget. He is orginally from Hope Arkansas but now makes his home in Texarkana.
 PICTURE COMING SOON Roy Dale Bray is  the main staff bass player on the Opry. Roy Dale also sings with a local gospel quartet which takes him away from the Opry at times. Roy Dale lives in New Boston Texas and has been a part of the Opry and local country music shows for over 20 years. He is a great bass player, singer as well as a harmony singer also. You are sure to find him entertaining, especially when he does his version of the Ray Stevens hits.
 PICTURE COMING SOON Tommy Vaughn is out backup bass player on the Opry. He lives in Texarkana and has deep roots in real country music. He is very accomplished bassist and singer. Tommy has been a part of the County Music scene in Texarkana for many years and comes from a musical family. He also plays the Fort Worth scene quit a bit.
  Lonnie Doss is our sound engineer and is also quit an accomplished musician. Lonne sings, plays piano and guitar. Lonnie's dad, the late Buster Doss was intrumental in getting country music shows started in the area. The Frontier Jamboree in Ashdown Arkansas was one of the first shows in this area. Lonnie and Henry were both a part of that show also. Pictured with wife Karla.
